These two right here are why you see our love of dogs shining through each of your photos.
Jacque - the scruffy guy, a Miniature Schnauzer/Husky/German Shepherd mix - left a big paw print on our hearts. We met him when he was five at The Humane Society when he jumped up on the glass and locked eyes with us. We had both had dogs before, but Jacque decided he would be OUR first dog.
He had some "Jacque-itude” and let us know what he thought about things with his expressive face and deep voice. He loved to have his big satellite ears massaged, belly rubs (he’d lift a helpful leg to remind you), and snuggling in the crook of Miranda’s neck or around Adam’s shoulders. He always knew when we were stressed and would wisely suggest that a walk would help. It always did.
He loved being outside but hated rain and snow. He adored laying in sun-warmed grass, sniffing the smells. He was our heart and soul dog, and we miss him every single day. We're so glad that we have so many photos of him throughout the years, and we smile whenever we look at his pictures adorning our walls.

People often say that second-born “children” possess a completely different temperament when compared to their first…
Meet Aster, our Australian Cattle Dog mix and the world's most high-energy dog for which we have rearranged our entire lives. We love him more than our backyard, which he destroyed with daily mandatory herding-ball time. He believes playing is his full-time job, and he steals socks directly from the laundry basket if we get out of line.
He’s so loyal and loves when his herd of people are all together. If not, he’ll gently take it out on Miranda’s ankles (she’s the lucky chosen one for some reason), and he always keeps an eye out for anything sus. He specializes in big kisses, laying his very heavy head on our feet at night to sleep, and playing in the rain and mud whenever allowed. Fur real.
Aster has taught us how to live in the moment and that the unconditional love of a dog is better than any manicured backyard.

Howl do you do?
We’re Miranda and Adam, the dog-loving duo and paw-parazzi behind Button and Bones. You might also recognize us from our work photographing families, couples, and corporations through our sister brands, Reminisce Photography and Noun Photography, since 2007. Our business is eco-friendly (complete with a solar array) and LGBTQ+ friendly.
We have a bone-afied commitment to Milwaukee and Southeast Wisconsin’s furry family members: the shy and anxious ones, the firecrackers of endless energy, and the couch potatoes. Both you and your dog(s) will enjoy a customized session catered to your dog’s personality and interests! In addition to giving your dog our focused attention, patience, and love during your photoshoot, we also donate 5% of our proceeds to local animal shelters and rescue groups because every dog deserves a home.
We know first hand how important it is to have photos of your furry family members to reminisce with throughout the years. "“Dogs' lives are too short. Their only fault, really.” ― Agnes Sligh Turnbull

Everything is better with a dog.
Dogs teach us unconditional love.
Dogs are not our whole life, but they
make our lives whole.
All dogs are good dogs.
Dogs have the power to bring
people together.
Everyone thinks they have the best dog, and none of them are wrong.
Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen.
Thank you for capturing Wilma doing what she loves: playing catch, running through the snow, cuddling with her mama. You gave me the best gift; pictures of her happiness. xo, Monica
Miranda was very patient when our dogs wanted to run instead of sit still. The photos turned out incredible! Can’t wait to do again! -Dawn
You'll have a "ball" with Buttons & Bones. I was impressed by the patience they exhibited when interacting with our pup in order to get just the right photo. -Susie
We’ve curated our sessions to paw-sitively delight you and your dog. You’ll have a ball at your luxury session!
We’re always careful to work within your dog's comfort level, and our experience with shy and anxious dogs will ensure your session is as safe and enjoyable as possible. We take our time because we want to be sure your dog is relaxed and having fun! There will also be time for your dog to sniff their paw-tographer, say hello, take some treats (if that’s ok with y’all!), and leisurely ease into the session while they take in their surroundings.
